Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As we've noticed more bikes are getting half inched, especially from sheds and with the runup to Christmas that figure is hardly going to decrease. I know some of you keep the bikes (or at least the expensive ones) in the house. There's been plenty of discussion on bicycle locks but I was thinking of concentrating on securing your bike at home (I thought there was a thread but I can't find it). Today I plan on buying one of these bike stands along with a good cable and a solid lock. Anyone else got other ideas?

At the moment I keep mine in the shed locked with a decent U-lock and the mandatory cable lock.

However as the shed is wooden even the Big Bads Wolfs little pup would have no problem blowing it down, and the fact that it's sitting on concrete blocks, there's nothing solid to secure it to. So what I do is lock it to 2 step ladders. I figure it's too awkward to try pull a fast one and try leg it with everything as they couldn't get the mess out the door, and they'd have to make too much of a racket to removed the locks within the shed while attached to the very noisy step ladders.

Trying to convince my wife we need a new solid shed simple isn't working.

Stick one ladder under the shed, loop a very heavy chain through a hole in the floor and around one of the rungs. That way they have to cut through the chain, or the ladder, or cut out the entire floor.

That's a great idea. Now I just need a shed. And a garden.

Making it awkfard is what I'm aiming at doing as when I did up the Menchov centre this year, I put wood panels over the wall and a floor so I've nothing really to attach it to but with three bike attached to a stand this should be very awkward.

Just sleep on the floor of the Menchov Centre with the chain looped around your waist.

    That's a good idea alright.

Usually mine lives in my room. At the moment, I'm away, so it's 3 weeks in the back garden of this guesthouse, locked to the fire escape, which is concreted to the ground. So far, so good....
