Pear Cider-Alternatives to sugar?

Just bought a Pear Cider kit from mybeerandwine and as usual the recipie calls for 1.5kgs of sugar. I hear that ordinary white sugar wont give the best results..should i try honey,brown sugar or something like that instead?

its all just simple sugar to the yeast

Apple juice or pear juice if you can find it would be much better
