Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quote about Drugs in Cycling

I was talking to a guy in Midleton last night about drug use on Le Tour and he mentioned looking for a quote from Jacques Anquetil, apparently given in a press interview 30 odd years ago, about people thinking the only stimulants cyclists took were coffee and cakes! Sounds like a good quote. Anybody know anything about it?

"coffee and cakes" - the boards.ie version of the more famous "bread and water" quote :D

I don't know where that quote came from but Anquetil was a beauty when it came to drug talk. You should read 's'SEX, LIES AND HANDLEBAR TAPE'

"If you want to accuse me of having doped, it's not difficult. All you have to do is look at my thighs and my buttocks - they're veritable pin cushions. You have to be an imbecile or a hypocrite to imagine that a professional cyclist who races 235 days a year in all weathers can keep going without stimulants" - Jacques Anquetil.
