Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm trying to remove rogue anti virus from a friends computer. Its blocking internet access. The website it tries to redirect to is called antivirstress.com but I cant seem to find anything about it online or much on the laptop. I have used Malware AntiMalware which found nothing and also the Super ANti Spyware portable which found some threats and removed them, now however it is showing there are no wireless connections which there are, and the anti virus is coming up still when you open a browser. I cant find much online, any help appreciated though please

    The following worked for me

    http://en.kioskea.net/telecharger/telecharger-105-malwarebytes-anti-malware

Before installing it, just in case the virus is self protective and prevent Malwarebyte from running, rename it Kioskea.exe.

    Install and update it.

Or a FULL system scan which also scan your system volume information

I will prescribe to you, I mean for the Horse, a powerful poison but please do follow these instructions carefully.

    1. Download Combofix

    From here:

    http://www.combofix.org/download.php

    2. Before running the tool, disconnect your modem

    3. Disable your antivirus as Combofix may see it as a virus (for some anyway)

    4. Close all applications

    5. Run the tool

In the course of the scan, your system may restart or you may be asked to restart, don't be alarmed, it is normal.

After Combofix, your system should be as clean as an angel's underwear!:)))

After, please, just to be and remain on the safe side, turn off your system restore for about 30 to 45 seconds and create a new fresh restore point that you can always come back to in case of need.

Grrr, i really hate rogue anti-virus scanners!!! I have to agree with the previous 2 posts - they're your best bet.

Malwarebytes is a great little tool - handy to leave installed on a system.
Combofix has never let me down.

Another handy tool is the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) for Windows.

    http://www.ubcd4win.com/

It comes with loads of handy tools built in to help rid your system of problems without having to boot into the problematic operating system. The problem is that Combofix isn't part of UBCD by default, but you can add it in yourself once you've downloaded it.

It'll also save you time the next time a friend comes looking for help.

    Best of luck with it.

I have finally removed it through manually removing registry entries, Malwarebytes AntiMalware and also by reinstalling IE7 to remove the final traces of it. I'm just updating it now and putting on proper anti virus, was a pain to get it off though. Thanks for the help guys some great tools there I will be using
