I got no cable ties for the chip - do you simply thread your laces through or am I missing something?

It's using the tunnel and the section up to Mahon and also the top end of the Southlink so if you drive to Douglas from Passage, get onto the South Ring from there (roundabout before you get into Douglas itself), turn right at the Kinsale road roundabout onto the Southlink and the Black Ash is on the left at the first traffic lights.
Remember to bring 5EU with you for the parking, I forgot last time and had to hang around the carpark till I saw a buddy who lent me the cash!

Haven't seen this years chip yet as I'm not registering till tomorrow but if its the same as last year you just thread your shoe lace through it..this is normal for disposable chips..also grand and close to the timing mats so less can go wrong.

Woddle - I presume you mean Passage east in Waterford and not Passage West in cork?? You will be coming from the east side of the city and there is plenty of free parking around the railway station, easy access to City Hall and car can be left there for duration of race and allow easy exit out to the east afterwards.

Just back from a nice slow run - 5 miles @ ~10 min pace.

Conditions here in Cork are pretty good - 13C and cloudy, 'crisp' and not particularly humid. Little bit breezy, but OK as long as it doesn't increase.

How else will we be able to have that always entertaining and strange conversations about where the silly names came from

Read up the thread, and you will find many of us the night before and indeed afternoon & night after in the fine eating & drinking establishments of Cork

BTW - If anyone wants an adventure with their other halves [or whatever], as very much a meat eating dub speaking, Cafe Paradiso in Cork is the best food I have ever had on this Island. AMAZING] If you like good food, would be a sin not to go there on a visit down to Cork. Its not huge, so get a booking..

I was planning to but will be wearing a bright yellow 'Team Sonia' top instead Will say hello to anyone wearing the boards top anyway.

Just back from final jog myself, small bit windy but forecast for tomorrow is better. I came back along the last two miles of the route but couldn't bring myself to run down Patrick St to do the final bit as would have felt like too much of a plonker!

This will be a welcome sight tomorrow!

I well remember it last year - that right turn at the lights onto Patrick Street and I grinned like an idiot all the way to the line. Funny how the pain disappears.

I'm madly jealous that I'll not be in Cork tomorrow - it would be great to meet up with the boardsies. Have a great run everybody and I'll look forward to the reports.

my wife is dropping me in town in the morning and shes hoping to park in the railway station car park for the day will we be able to drive in there at 8am? or will all that be closed off?

I'm not running the race but it will affect me. Has anyone any idea on when the road closures will be enacted? I've to work that day and will be going from Wilton to Holyhill. And as glaciers move faster than that website, I've no idea when the roads are closing.

Great course today. Lovely weather, great support and more than ample water stations.
We got the 4hr pace group in at 3'59 bang on and quite a few followed us all the way home.

3:41 for me - thoroughly enjoyed it - special thanks to the 3:45 pacers who dropped back to push us back up the group around the 21 mile mark - got me back on track and I scooted on from there.

Angela McCann won her first Marathon - ~2:50/52.

C Team - Cancer Survivors finished in about 3:21. we came in to the finish together and got an absolutely tremendous reception.

338 photos here, from very early stages and also just after 26M mark

Speaking of marks....before anyone mentions it.... the 20k mark was about a quarter mile too soon! :eek: I measured it and gave full identification of all marks - photos and very detailed descriptions of the locations....someone else lqaid down the painted Marks!

i gotta 3.56 on my watch time the official time was a min slower but im ignoring that
should have been quicker but jared my knee on that last downhill steep bit around 23 thought it was going to explode for the last 3 finishd tho
ended up running with some great people from midleton ac
left the 4hr pacers behind at about 4hr was too crowded for me with ya sorry

Yeah, I got a fright at the 20K mark, but at least the half marathon mark soon after allayed my fears.

I managed to improve from 3:57 in Limerick 5 weeks ago to 3:55 this time around. Very pleased that I didn't hit the wall again.... thanks in part to the 9 isogels I consumed along the way An experiment that worked.

Brilliant day all in all, well organised, great support, and great weather (aside from anyone who had to limp home in the cold rain after about 5 hours).

Fantastic day all around, big thanks to all involved with organising everything and anyone handing out water etc. at all the stations.

Delighted to have gotten in just under the 3:30 mark in my first marathon, big thanks to the 2 pacers. Those lovely green balloons dragged me around the last 2.2 miles!

Thanks Condo too for the website, lots of info on there that helped ease my mind running the distance for the first time. The official website could learn a lot from you.

Bit of a disappointing day for me. I did 3 legs of the relay and my husband did the last 2. I was 7 minutes slower than last year:o He was 5 minutes faster so made up a bit of the lost time. Brilliant day though, love this race. Will be back again and again.

Went to the Sextant but couldnt find any boardsies. Where are ye all hiding?

Just watched RTE News announce Lucy Brennan as the women's winner - they're lucky Sergiu Ciobanu won the mens again so they got that right - must be picking up the results from the photos on the up to date official site!

Yeah there was alot of hurting going on in the last couple of miles in the 3.30 group.

I was in there for a while, took a walk around when I got in to see if I could spot any board t-shirts but didn't see any, was packed at that stage though.

3:07:42 for me today, was a race of two halves, first went well, second not so great but overall was happy to improve on last year. Mind you the better weather probably was responsible for some of that

Only disappointment was that Sonia O'Sullivan picked up an injury over the weekend so she had to jog/walk around the course taking just over five hours when she was aiming for sub-3.

I'm guessing about 1:52:50 for me.

I didn't really like the half course at all, you always seemed to be running up or down.
I thought the start time was far too late (11:30am) but it was well organised.
Not once did I see a sports drink and I really wanted one.
The finish was a bit of a mess aswell, you had to go looking for your medal (not that I wanted one but everyone seemed to be a bit confused) and where to put your chip and again no bottles of drinks being offered.

Positives, fantastic support, plenty of water, nice medal, good marshalling throughout the course, pacers seemed to do a super job.

Well done all who ran today, conditions were perfect.

Fair play to Sonia for still doing it.
I found it tough enough today. Heat in 1st hour, blisters and slight injury in 2nd half made things alot harder than they should have been. Finished in 3:27, 1 minute faster than last year so can't complain. Well done to all for the support.
