Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My lad trampled on his laptop and smashed the screen, is it possible to connect this laptop to a normal TV and use it as normal with the image on the TV?

If so how would I do this and where do I get the cable?

Should work fine like that. Something like this you need.

What is the model of the laptop?

    It's an Acer Extensa 4220-101G08Mi Cel540 14.1"

Would this have the required connections?

    Thanks

when you say a normal tv is it the older crt fat telly or a newer lcd/led telly?
if it is the newer one you could use a standard vga cable if your telly has the connection

using the S-video cable that RoadkillTs suggested would be fine for watching films but would be terrible for doing normal pc work as the text would be very hard to make out

I connect my laptop to the Tv using a HDMI cable. (The tv has loads of connection points and the laptop is less than a year old)
This is very simple provided you have HDMI sockets/connection points on each device.
There is an incredible price range on these cables though. The one I use cost a fiver delivered and works perfectly so dont waste a fortune when you dont have to.

also if you have a desk top PC at home you can connect the Monitor to your IOIO port on the laptop and this might be your simplest solution.

It's an old CRT telly, that would have S-Video and Scart
