no sound enabled on dell 6400 laptop help needed please.

I had to reinstall windows XP onto dell 6400 laptop. now everything works except theres no sound. i think its not seeing the sound card now. does any one encountered this problem before and if so whats the next step i can do next to fix it.

did you use the driver CD to reinstall the device drivers? or have you simply put windows back on the laptop?

if your right click on "my computer", choose "properties"
in the window that appears there is a tab along the top called "hardware"
click on that tab, there should be a button "Device manager"
click on that, if there are any yellow exclamations it's a sign you haven't installed that device. All the drivers for the devices can be obtained from the CD you get with the laptop or the dell website.
