Wind and rain very bad now in South midlands. Slates sound like they are rattling on the roof.
How likely is it that the elctricity goes out in bad wind like this? Must root out a few candles.

Considering its never ever windy in this part of kilkenny, or at least not in about 10 years, this is an extraordinary event! Pouring rain and very windy here anyway . . .

Pressure down to 959 at the K5 buoy, only falling slowly now. Core of the low must be near. Looks like we are not going to have any surprise deepening, models were spot on.

In south kerry 18mm of rain so far today. Wind still calm enough but serious high tide earlier.

Update. Going to break the inch mark here shortly. If the heaviness of the rain hitting the window is anything to go by, it'll go well past that mark too. Wind up substantially too as is temp.

Gusty with moderate rain here in West Limerick.

    984hPa which is a drop of 19hPa since 1550z.

Weather is nothing unusual for my reasonably exposed location. Nice to be sitting inside listening to the rain driving against the window.

The wind has - to my suprise - really picked up here (west coast of Mayo) in the last 5 minutes. I thought it was all over.

It is really howling now, starting to seem like a proper storm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭John mac

need a bit of help with this one.. I have collected 500L of rainwater in 5 hours from 32^2M roof.
so that works out at avg 100L per hour .

How do you calculate the mm rainfall from this?

Reminds me of the time I lived in Mayo for over 10 years! I DO NOT miss the bad weather and WIND which always seems to be there during the winter! Where I live now is definitely a tad more sheltered! But I still visit....during the summer.
