I need to provide a SWIFT number for my bank.
I was told my bank has no SWIFT number, and that it must be the same thing as the bic number.

    Is that correct?

Doing a quick internet search says yes they are different words for the same thing.

I thought it was that BIC replaced Swift. So if you provide the correct BIC code, everything should be OK.

SWIFT codes are still used by banks in other countries so be mindful of that if you're ever transferring overseas.

SWIFT - Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication

    BIC - Bank Identifier Code.

The are indeed one and the same, they are used by foreign banks and Irish Banks, and you don't need to be mindful of there being any difference, because there is no difference....
