Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there any department you can make enquiries to or any way you can find out in advance of a benefit claim, exactly what you will be entitled to and when?

I am basically leaving work at the end of the year, have a job lined up but wont be for a couple of months and am planning on claiming jobseekers benefit in the meantime while i look for something else.

I think i am eligible for the 196 per week, but am understandably worried that i might be on a lower rate, if i even qualify at all.

    thanks in advance.

If you leave your job of your own accord, be award you can be disqualified from claiming anything for up to 9 weeks.
Citizens Information can help you with your entitlements.
www.welfare.ie has all the information you need on how you qualify for payments.
Or phone or call in to your local Social Welfare office - they should have an information area - and discuss with them directly.

    Thanks Carol,

I handed in my notice, but its a difficult situation, i actually failed a test i needed to pass and my contract was due to be terminated, but as we were busy they decided to let me stay til xmas and leave "of my own accord".

If my claim is delayed 9 weeks, does the first payment include 9 months arrears??

    Chris

Its up to 9 weeks, and at the discretion of the Deciding Officer.

There's the guidelines on it - if you state your case to them, you might not be disqualified at all. If you are disqualified for 9 weeks, your payment only starts from the date the disqualification is up.
