I'm trying to learn about basic medicine and all the different specialties etc. Basically I want to know if anyone could recommend some good books or reading material that would give me some insight into medicine without being too technical and going over my head.…

I'm trying to learn about basic medicine and all the different specialties etc. Basically I want to know if anyone could recommend some good books or reading material that would give me some insight into medicine without being too technical and going over my head. I read an article about army medicine in National Geographic I think, and I found it really interesting. I know that medical articles come in magazines like that but I don't think there would be enough of them to warrant getting a subscription. Any suggestions would be welcome!
