Just wondering if anyone had any reliable predictions for this winter regarding Polar Lows. Is there any evidence of a repeat of 2009/2010?

you can't really predict polar lows in advance, as they develop in the space of 24 hours.
However, if the weather is consistently coming from a north or northwesterly direction this winter, then there is a higher chance they will form. last year, although we had sustained cold, we didn't get a single polar low.

    Thanks for clearing that up;)
