Yeah, I'm not a real Billy Joel fan per sae, but I sometimes wonder why he was never regarded in the same way as Dylan or Springsteen.

Maybe Uptown Girl & the whole Christine Brinkley thing made him a figure of fun in some people's eyes....
maybe will be when he dies who knows but alot of people realise how good he is when go beyond the MTV singles also anyone making fun of him for sleeping with Christine needs head examined haha

    Saw them too there myself!

Best band of all time is the Beatles, no question. You just never get tired of hearing their songs.
This is most true of their stuff from '66 onwards.
Even 30 years after first hearing it, I still dig it.

I love The Who though. The fact that they portrayed the feelings of intense angry & dissaffected young men, such as I was many years ago......

Well, nobody else does it better...:D

I get tired of hearing their songs. All the time.

Perhaps I'm the only person alive who thinks this but the beatles have got to be the most overrated musical entity in history. As musicians they were very ordinary.

I can't for the life of me understand their attraction.

Neil Young is my favourite singer of all time. I reckon he should retire from making new albums though as they suck big time.

Johnny Cash. Wide varied selection of songs and spanned such a long period in music. Often overshadowed by the likes of Elvis and some of the newer kids on the scene.

Bruce Springsteen, 40 years of consistently great music. Most acts that age are living off past glories, for example the stones haven't had a good song in probably 20 years. Bruce is still churning out material that's right up there with his best, the man is a genius, plain and simple!

Christ where do I start? Overall it would be any one of the first 3.

    Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden
    Ronnie James Dio (RIP)
    David Coverdale from Whitesnake?
Aoife Ní Fhearraigh for her haunting voice on "The Best is yet to come" (Metal Gear Solid 2 ending)
Paul McCartney on Hey Jude (he's a príck though)
    Joe Elliot -Def Leppard

Tough question.. going to say Nine Inch Nails as I think Trent Reznor is a genius!
Surprised Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins haven't been mentioned yet either!

However I like many of the other bands mentioned on this thread Pearl Jam, The Smiths, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains and so on.

Favourite band for me would be Megadeth.

As for favourite singer? Hmm probably a toss up between Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden and Eric Adams of Manowar.
