Great pics, Steyr. Obviously you took your calling seriously and stayed on the prom for several hours. Well done.

Decided to go for a spin by the docks, ridiculously high, poor seagulls flyin one step forward, two steps back. If only they'd turn around...

Thought i'd go for a walk down to the diving board near blackrock...suffice to say i'm soaked, and my camera phone didn't quite capture the images at all. :/ Waves were insane, crashing up as far as the shelters near the diving board!

'Twas too dark for cameraing by the time the weather picked up. Went for a game of chess down opposite the aquarium at about 5:30ish where the waves were coming in over the giant chessboard, but even by then it was too dark for the camera to pick up the spray behind us. Stupid wintertime :(

Interesting shots to be had down by the Claddagh though - all the boats up level with the road.

what site did you get the NOAA imagery from? - have checked www.ssd.noaa.gov but it's a maze! this is good as well, esp. in infrared.. http://sat24.com/Region.aspx?country=eu&sat=ir&type=loop

PUBLIC WARNED OF FRESH HIGH TIDE THREAT IN CITY AND COUNTY

PUBLIC WARNED OF FRESH HIGH TIDE THREAT IN CITY AND COUNTY

We're being warned coastal areas of the city and county are not out of danger yet from sea flooding.
A high tide is forecast for six o'clock this evening, which, combined with strong west to northwest winds, could cause some coastal flooding.
The Prom in Salthill, Silverstrand beach and the entrance to Ballyloughane beach in the city were all closed for a time last evening due to high seas.
The city council has criticised some members of the public for walking onto the diving platform at Salthill during the storm last night.

Jesus - I would have loved to have been on top of Blackrock then!

Was hoping to maybe go myself but checked the tide times and found it would be dark. Turned out not to be as bad as expected though. We've got a whole winter ahead, plenty of time for more.

Like I said I was one of them, and that's not even a massively high level for us to run it at. It was higher in summer 2009 when I recorded this :

    http://vimeo.com/6343972

and of course MUCH higher whenever I took these last November after the floods:
