Noticed for the last few evenings that my 7mb line was running kinda low, obviously around peak time (6-9pm-ish) and understandably there would be a bit of congestion.

Generally i get speeds of about 3-4.5mb with a ping of around 70.

At peak times it would usually go down to the lowest of 1.0mb-1.2mb and the ping is generally the same, maybe a little higher but not by much, around 120.

Just a few minutes i noticed my speed drastically low, here is a speedtest of my line:

One thing that puzzles me is my very high ping, the line is new and we are quite close to the exchange too.

At one stage the ping was near 500-600!

I know the weathers bad but would that really make a difference in my connection?

Ah sure you're out in the sticks. Need to be within the metropolitan area of Termonfechin for the high speed stuff. :D

In Termon Abbey and it's the same here as well. It's supposed to be contention free so they say.....

did see someone fiddling with a telecoms box on the T-road a few days ago so could it be anything to so with that?

What is it supossed to be

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

The most i ever got was 6.06, granted it was at about 6 in the morning... :p

Generally i get about 2.5-3mb sometimes it goes down a little, sometimes up.
But .67 definitely cant be down to congestion. Especially the fact that it has been constant for the last few days, regardless of time of day.

Jake, is that what your service is like generally?
