Culture Night is lame. That said, I have a piece showing in Cork's Black Mariah tonight... I think...

What is going on for culture night. I'm hearing plenty of people go on about it but know nothing about what is actually going on for it.

I'll take some pics during the week although it's kind of an interactive piece so pics don't really do much for it. Still nice seeing your name printed on a window.

    It's good, not quite amazing.

    This, however, is amazing:

Need new headphones. Sick of paying out the ass for Sennheisers that break anyway.

Criteria: <60e, over ears, decent sound for an ipod, don't look retarded

I'm an earphone kinda guy. Have a look over in Bargain Alerts and I think one of the Dance forums had a link a while back.

I didn't get to go to anything, but I was coming through Town and witnessed a man standing on the ledge of a tall building near Georges Street, I'm quite sure (or I hope) that was part of it.

Did you get to see anything of note?

Panasonic RP-HTX7-G1 are IMHO a good budget pair, I think they retail at €30.

Warning: you will look like you pilot a helicopter.

    New AJJ album is out and it disappoints a little :( There's some nice songs on it but the extra instrumentation seems to kill the charm and it seems a little aimless at parts. Some songs sound like he's trying to be the evil Conor Oberst which is not a good direction imo. Still some of the lyrics are just stunning as usual;
"You can hope it gets better/ You can follow your dreams/ but hope is for presidents and dreams are for people who are sleeping" being my favourite so far.

The opening line of this one made me chuckle too

New We Were Promised Jetpacks album streaming over on avclub.com.

Looking forward to seeing them in Whelan's in December.

Ten things that are killing indie music.

Interesting, although I haven't decided if it's all bollocks or not yet.

The Egotrip of Hansard continues :(

I actually liked Once when I first saw it, but the limelight it gave Hansard probably wasn't worth it.

New Ginnels album everybody, it's free for now, but I think it's coming out on Long Lost Records, so buy it, 'cause it's brilliant.

    Cheers for that, sounds class!

Land Lovers released a new album there last weekend too, first single is fairly catchy!

I'm listening to it and writing a review of it for my college paper right now. Great pop record, pee'd off that I missed the launch gig.

Land Lovers do a great pop tune. Good to see them getting out there and getting praise long overdue.

Ah, was just saying to a friend that I might make my next trip around trying to see the Horrors abroad since they don't seem to be announcing any Irish shows any time soon.

Jim Corr is the kind of crazy I thought had gone out of fashion. That's amazing.
