I'm sitting in my pj's waiting for the "wind storm" - but like Sunday night nothing at all I'm in Dublin.

read back through the post. You will see then that the wind is not expected to peak until 3pm in Dublin....give or take an hour...

Gust of 42km/h, new station record for my month old Davis Vantage Vue. Have a feeling that record will be smashed a lot today.:D

Cork is now getting stormy also.
Earlier than I would have thought and we do look like being more sheltered than most. If winds continue on the up this is definatly going to be a rough storm

Max gust here 57mph so far.

Getting pretty wild in Galway City now as well. Gust 52.6km/h, mean 25.7. Pressure 974.8, falling slowly

Little reluctant to post my wind speeds here as I thought they might be wrong but we have had lots of gusts of well over 60mph some touching 70mph. I have been cross referencing with the Lahinch weather station ( which is about 1 1/2 miles from me as the crow flies ) and it seems to bear out what we are experiencing. Looking at Shannon Airport speeds also confirms for me that my readings are correct as usually when we have 40mph+ winds Shannon can be showing 10-15mph.

My davis is telling me to 'hold onto my hat'!!!!!

I am trying to tell it that I don't have one but it's not listening!!!:(

Mean windspeed here since midnight (taken from Davis and reading in MPH)

    134495.jpg

failing to get past 30mph but at least the trend is upwards.

Yes, correct. But it was down to 44kts at 1130 and 48kts at 1200.....maybe they're right and we're all wrong! :D

On a very exposed hill to the wind, it is windy enough as it is without getting worse.

Wouls say that the constant windspeed now is what the gusts were 2 hours ago.

Has this arrived earlier than expected or is 3 pm still peak time on the west coast??
