More in a direct easterly direction which will keep the isobaric gradient fairly tight for the next few hours over the northern half of Ireland.

Nice, am just leaving Dublin for Belfast now, hoping to see some wind !

Few more pics of the Atlantic around noon, I don't know whether the photos do the wind justice, it was pretty amazing just tables of white swell rising up to the horizon.

Then I went to an Atlantic storm beach - the power was amazing, there wasn't any discernable waves, the Atalntic as far as you could see was just a mass of swirling white froth (the pic doesn't do it justice) the wind was so strong I couldn't breathe, masses of seaweed was strewn 300 metres away from the car park on the road to down:

What was really amazing was that the tide should have been half way out, but it wasn't, the wind was having a battle with the gravitational pull of the moon and was winning!!!

Seems to have gotten much stronger here since 2pm, things are being blown off structures.

Snow ghost, are those pics of Roonah Pier in post #742?

They are, as you probably know if you know the pier - it is a very big pier in very deep water, which makes the waves pounding over it all the more powerful.

Noticing more frequent gusts in Dublin 24. Short spells of rain and getting duller, still can see a few blue spots over the city though, looks bright out in north dublin.

Dublin Airport ATC reporting max gusts 37 knots. Had one go-around (abondoned landing) about 30 mins ago. Being a westerly wind it wont cause too much stress for pilots, but it could get interesting.

The worst of it so far is kicking off here now - high winds and squally rain, pressure continues to drop rapidly:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,740 ✭✭✭Birdnuts

Squall just went through here and sent stuff flying outside - pressure still dropping rapidly:)

In Limerick here. Just lost my greenhouse. Managed to rescue the outside, but the frame is bent to pieces.
