Should I be Signing On?

I went in for my appointment just over week with my UP1 forms and all the rest of it for an application for Jobseeker's Allowance. Handed in all my stuff and was sent on my merry way with the assurance that the Inspector would contact me before long.

I was never instructed to do so in the interim, but should I have been told to sign on or anything while I wait on the call from the inspector? Should I go back in and talk to them again in case they forgot to tell me?

Also, will my payments be backdated to the date on which I handed in my form or the date on which the inspector visits me?

    Thanks!

    No, I don't think so.

Your forms are in and you will have to wait for your means test with the inspector. Be aware that this could be a number of weeks.

In the meantime you can go to your CWO and ask for Supplementary Welfare payment while you are waiting on your JSA to be sorted. They will pay you until the JSA is sorted instead of you getting it backpaid.
