Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey,

My nephews monitor went on his XPS and I ddon't know if it needs replacing or what?

Model: Dell sp2008wfp w/ built in webcam

I assume it's fúcked, but want to get some opinions before I buy a new one.

It started for no reason to happen on and off for a minute or two for a few weeks, but now it's permenantly stuck the way it is.

The screen is green and fuzzy with lines shaking lines across the whole display.

I have tested it on several PC's and laptops and with VGA / DVI and they all replicate the same result.

I've tried running it in differnet resolutions and hertz with no luck.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Cheers

    Tal

sounds like you've done everything that would be recommended here. I'd say the screen is fecked. how old is the PC? more than 1 year? If it is i'd say you're out of luck on any warranty.

Yeah, just out of warranty. It is such a nice screen, and the camera and USB ports made it :(

    Ah well, cheers dude

yeah.. still, it's always worth asking dell though. You might pick up a bargain on a screen. you can get web cams cheap too. With a move towards hi-def cams, 'standard' web cams are becoming cheaper. only problem with hi-def cams are they need a high powered PC to encode the video.

    Built-in is much easier though

Exactly how old is the monitor and have you got a receipt, the 1 year guarantee is NOT the limit of your consumer warranty period, a monitor should last more than 1 year.
If it's just a year old your statutory rights cover you, read up on the Consumer Issues forum for more background rather than my typing OT.
