How to properly fix Carpet to Stairs?

    Hi Everyone.

Just bought a house and have a problem.

The carpet is loose on the stairs. Its completely cut off across the length of the bottom of the riser, about half way up the flight.

Im just wondering how to properly fix the carpet to the Board (The Going), so it wont slip when someone is running up or down and break their neck!

What is the standard practice, is it tacked down or is it done with any particular type of glue?

Any suggestions welcome, even if youve just seen it done, gimme your opinion.

    Cheers:)

Gripperrods, put them tight in between the going and riser

Carpet glue either, it'll stick it down. Mightn't be so pleasant when you go to remove it though
