    From HotPress.com:

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has confirmed this morning to Hot Press that they’ve given “authorisation in principle” to Denis O’Brien and his Communicorps Group taking a significant shareholding in the loss-making Phantom 105.2 FM who suffered a decrease in the latest JNLR figures.

BAI spokesman Brian Furey added that there would be “no impact” on Communicorps’ current ownership of Today FM, 98FM, Spin FM Dublin & South West and Newstalk.

Both Communicorps and Phantom still have to submit further information about the deal to the BAI for their approval and to enable contracts to be updated.

What this means for the current shareholders including the original Phantom pirate crew (Wireless Media), and the station’s output remains to be seen.

Phantom’s other current shareholders include MCD’s Denis Desmond and Principle Management.

    From UnaMullally on Twitter:

"I hear Phantom are moving into Marconi House with Today FM and Newstalk."

    ... wow...

The specialist music shows are excellent, but the daily shows are repetitive in the extreme. The play list has become increasingly bland, and it must be difficult to compete as a specialist music station with the availability of services like Last.FM. That said, I think Nova are making a pretty good job of it.

The Morning show could do with a major overhaul for starters.

That exact comment could also be used to describe Nova imo.....

The BAI has finally shredded it's credibility. Doesn't see problem with Obrien -wow! As for Phantom if they cant deliver the segment they applied for, they should have handed the licence back or been made hand it back. Phantom could deliver what they promised and if I'd been an unsuccessful underbidder for that licence, I'd seriously consider legal action
