Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

done a good few searches , but is there any removable ( to stop vermin nicking it ) handle bar mounted side mirror you can get for bikes , partic MTB ?

mainly to keep an eye on whats coming up behind to close to me.

also for those who wear helmets , any good reccomendations for city use ?

    thanks

I've never known a bike-mounted mirror that's been any use.

I used a Reevu helmet for years, until it fell apart, and would have bought another one if they still made them. I replaced it with one of these, which isn't quite as good but I much prefer it to nothing.

For what it is worth I had a mirror on my touring bike for some time and it never got nicked. I am not sure it is any more likely to get stolen than any other part of the bike to be honest, and if it does it is cheaper to replace than almost any other part of the bike that might get nicked (saddle, etc.)

A mirror is useful (IMO) for two things- keeping an eye on other cyclists behind you (e.g. have you dropped your partner) and keeping an eye out for homicidal buses behind you when cycling in the bus lane with earphones in.

A certain wily vet who will be well known to anyone in Orwell uses that Italian Road Mirror on his racing bike and it hasn't done him any harm incidentally.

I have one of these and they are good. I would love to get one of the tiny mirrors you stick to the inside of your shades, but am not sure if they work.

Here's the one I fitted to my bike, bought it in Halfords for 7.49 euro. I have found it to be very useful indeed.
