Similar whatever works philosophy I guess.

Does not imply that JKD in all the forms you see today equals MMA though.

    Seriously?

MMA has taken on a life of its own. It was formerly used to describe the sport, now it describes a specialised combination of wrestling, BJJ and muay thai. Sure any style can enter and fight but don't you see a trend dominating? Wrestling, BJJ and muay thai have thrived in MMA. MMA is also restricted to a rule set, it's designed for fighting in a ring / cage with fighter safety in mind.

JKD isn't restricted to a rule set. It has a lot of self defence based techniques that would be illegal in MMA. The wrestling and grappling are limited. There's also a lot of chi sau.

How are they similar? Nevermind the same.
