I know this is a strange selection for reality TV but I have to say it is on of the better offerings currently airing on the TV.

It follows 8 Irish 16 year olds as they train to become lifeguards in Fort Lauderdale.

This series works because the 16 year olds don't take themselves too seriously, the dynamic between them and the Americans, in particular their coaches. And the fact that while they are competing the is no ultimate prize.

In general I have to say that TRTÉ's other reality series have faired better than their older counter parts in the RTÉ/TV3 schedules. The other reality show being the dance competition called Super Crew.
