Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Undoing a hard drive Hex Edit

    Hi guys,

I was creating a gold card for my android phone following the steps here. Instead of opening my phone's SD card in the hex editor, I must have accidentally opened my hard drive and edited that instead. Now, having restarted my laptop, it seems to try to network boot rather than boot from the hard drive. Checked the boot order and hard drive is first. Looks like I might have totally wrecked how the hard drive boots. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks.

Which operating system are you using?

Windows installation disks have tools for restoring the boot sector, the procedure for Windows XP is different to that of Vista/7 (both of which are the same).

For Windows XP, you will need to enter the Recovery Console and use the 'fixboot' command.

For Vista/7, you will need to click 'Repair Computer' at the continue installation screen, bring up a command prompt and type 'bootrec /fixboot'.

Google will provide you with more detail, good luck!
