John Terry is out injured so Paulo Ferreira will play as a centre-back.

The captain had a nerve problem in training yesterday that is leading to pain in a glut and hamstring muscle.

Nicolas Anelka returns to the starting line-up after injury with Salomon Kalou making way. Ramires replaces suspended Michael Essien.

On a youthful bench, Jacopo Sala, an 18-year-old Italian midfielder or wide player comes into the seven.

Sunderland make two changes. Phil Bardsley replaces Anton Ferdinand at left-back and Danny Welback comes into the side as Steve Bruce opts for two strikers



Chelsea are expected to start in the following 4-3-3 formation:

I would put Bruma in at CB long before Ferreira! he is useless at RB never mind CB.... ever get one of them dodgy feelings, ive got one , now can only hope we score more than they do!

With Essien there, Chelsea would probably be ahead already. Sunderland are going forward a lot more than they usually do at the Bridge. Ramires is probably playing a lot deeper than usual.

Chelsea still better though.
