    Hi John/Ash/Nicola/Dave,

A good friend of mine is looking to get rid of his rear projection screen and go down the route of either of the above. I recommended Philips 5 Series and LG 5300. Open to more options guys......;)

Brand is not toooooooo important, but preferably would be looking for:

    1. Min. 100Hz for fuzzball
    2. Full HD for sky.
    3. Mpeg 4 (Saorview) capable.
    4. Delivery to Dublin or collection from Philips.

    And most importantly..........a budget of €700 - €800 yo-yos:cool:

    Cheers guys

    Hi Ryanno.

Both those screens are nice screens with the Philips being the more expensive of the two and looking like it may be a little over budget.

In saying that, I would have to recommend another LG which I feel is better value for money than the 5300 which is the LG 47LD690. This is just £599.95 / 719 Euro and it ticks a lot of the boxes.

I feel that it performs as well as the 5300 but as it's not an LED, it does represent better value for money.

I hope this helps but let me know if you fancy any of these.

    Cheers

    Dave

Tried to convince him about the 8605 for you Ash, but he thinks I was mad dropping well over a grand on a TV........... Weirdo - these people just don't understand :D

I'll try to get him over to see the 3 and 5 series in the flesh but I think the LG may be the way to go............

    No worries.

Some people just dont understand the joy a fantastic TV can bring eh!
I'd think it was money well spent when you consider how much time you sit down and watch it:)

    Ry,

thanks for the post & apologies that I'm only coming into the fray late!

How about the Philips 47PFL3605 - not 100Hz to be fair but at €749.99 including a 2 year warranty it's a really good option.

    The 47LD690 would be my choice if you needed 100 Hz at £599.95 / €729.99 (£669.98 / €814.99 including a 5 year warranty) it's an excellent performer http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/lg/47ld690/lg-47ld690

    The 47LE5300 is the 1st LED - but it will break the budget at £699.95 / €849.99 (£669.98 / €929.99 including 5 year warranty) http://www.richersounds.com/product/led-tv/lg/47le5300/lg-47le5300

Apoloies we have kept you waiting and keep me posted if I can assist in any way,

    ATB,
