Has anyone bought runners from this site http://www.nikeshoxireland.com, I'd like to know before I buy. I want to get back into training & need a comfortable pair of runners. The best i've worn before were Shox, but the price everywhere is too expensive for me at the moment. If anyone has anywhere they have bought in the past, could you please post it here.

No reputable running store would sell you the Nike Shox, they are a fashion shoe. The one piece of equipment you should spend a bit of money on (>€75) is a decent set of shoes, preferably bought from a store that knows what they are talking about. Lots of threads on the forum which recommend decent running stores.

Thanks for the advise. I used to wear asics but since i done my knee in (acl) a few years ago, I cant find anything comfortable to train in. As for fashionable, shox look ghastly & if i got a pair i'd only wear them running. I'm not planning on doing anything competitive, just running to get fit again. Prices on all runners are very high in Ireland & I'm gone back to full time education so money is tight. I was in America last year & got runners for half the price they charge here, so I want to buy online from somewhere people have used before that sells cheaply & is reliable (i.e. not a site which takes my money & I never hear from them again).

Running in those will not save you money though as you'll do yourself a mischeif of some kind.

www.sweatshop.co.uk or www.startfitness.co.uk are really good. Great service and usually free socks or t shirt too. Sign up for their email alerts and they will notify you of their sales.

I got a pair of Helly Hansen runners from http://www.iafstore.com/eng/

The runners cost me €60 and were €80+ on amazon and the like

Nike Shox are €80 here http://www.iafstore.com/eng/scheda.asp?num=3855&pa=p

P.s thats an italian site so my "order confirmation" and shipping info were in italian!

I'm all for getting value for money but when it comes to shoes (running or otherwise) you really need to try them on.

So go to a good shop, try on the shoes, get advice from the staff and if you have any conscience you'll buy the shoes there or if you really, really need to save a couple of euro you can buy from the internet and discover in a few years that there is nowhere local to try on/buy running gear.
