Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

MultiRegion BluRay & DVD Player (not hacked with a code, multi region out of the box)

    Title says it all really

I'm looking for a Multi Region Blu Ray & DVD Player

There seems to be plenty of hacks out there but I don't want the hassle of changing the software at all or every time I want to switch regions.

I'm probably being paranoid but I'm worried about hacks affecting warranty having had a very non committed answer from a manager in a shop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hoping to buy a player in the next few weeks but I've still had no luck with this, can anyone help with this?

    Thanks

As far as i'm aware, there is no out-of-the-box multi region blu-ray player. All require some sort of software/hardware hack. Most of the cheap DVD players are region free - the better brands (Panasonic, Sony, Philips etc) need a remote hack to be made region free.

Tesco are currently selling a Technica (model BRSS10) which can be made region free for DVD and region selectable for Blu-ray using a simple remote code to uncover a menu. The menu even stays available until it is powered off at the mains. No hardware hack needed. Can't vouch for it being the best player in the world, but a region free BD player for €90 is certainly rare. I was about to spend a few times that when news of this started spreading around other forums.

    Switch on
    open tray
    press "set-up" on remote
    enter 9113

Thanks Kahless, that saves me creating a thread.
Are these still being sold by Tesco in Ireland?

    Mainly good reviews here:

I saw a suggestion that they may be made by insignia. Does anyone know who sells insignia players in Ireland.

    A side-question...

Does anyone know of a cheap(ish) blu-ray player which may be locked to region B/2 for Blu-ray but is region-free for DVDs?
