Ok, ok, before the moderator gives this the chop, it will not be a RACE (really!) - just a meeting of like-minded cycling enthusiasts who would like to ride the iconic Dublinbike together.
Night or weekend?
Race Route (oops - cycle route)?
Finishing post (oops, that shoudl be 'finishing point')?

I've thought about this before and would certainly be up for it. Route is from the Science Gallery @ TCD to the Christchurch station outside the Bull & Castle pub. Tricky final uphill section inclusive

Has it all (in a clockwise direction) sharp hill by the Kyber, somewhat longer drag along Upper Glen Rd, fast downhill section to test that high cadence style along North Road. Going out to Wicklow would just wear the competitors, sorry tourists, out.

What do those Dublin Bikes weigh? 25kg

Ah feck, the Phoenix Park wouldn't work at all - they are City Bikes - would have to be on 'streets'!!

Phoenix Park would be grand. Less chance of carnage. There are usually loads of bikes in Smithfield and its only 5 mins from the park.

I'm up for it, I'll even wear full tear-drop helmet ensemble for added ridiculousness..

IMO Phoenix Park has it all for a race, victory in town would probably go to the rider who's willing to break the most lights/make the most pedestrians scatter....

Would love to do this. Was thinking of trying a long distance trip of two or three of them over a day if I could get a few of the lads to do it. Would be great sh1ts and giggles.

City centre loop with the proviso that you have to do it for free. You must change bikes at least every half hour (or every second station) and it must be a different bike...

AFAIK there is a delay between when you dock and when you can next remove a bike, something like 5/10 minutes.

We could do 17Km in an hour no? That'd only be 50c.

+1 A loop around Khyber Pass avoids traffic lights, HGVs, cars and buses. I'd say the lights on the Dublin Bikes might also be good enough for cycling there in the evening.

i think this is a great idea i've just signed up for my card... been meaning to get one for ages but this is the kind of incentive i needed!..... think phoenix park would be good. and full lycra to be worn by all for comedy effect
