Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    No it's not - C'mon France!

The 'who will we support' stuff is truely embarassing.

Grow the fk up and support your own team against Norway.

I really hope Carroll takes the chance that he deserves and has a good game.

    No it's not - C'mon France!

    /facepalm

For me, I lived in France so I might shout for them, but then I always like to see England do well (except this summer when the team imploded, that was just amusing!).

All I'm looking for is a good match!

    Reckon England to win 3-1.

Newcastle United don't want Carroll to play tonight. They say that if it was a Newcastle game he wouldn't be playing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,328 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

I might watch this one, given that the Ireland match is on SSports.

I'm hoping Carroll does well, I'm supposed to hate the guy, with my other half and her family being Sunderland fans from the North East, but I think he is the type of forward England need.

I am much more excited to see Henderson start though, a good day for the North East clubs with the two of them starting, Henderson really is a talent.

I'm looking forward to see how Laurent Blanc's rebuilding of the French team is going. Hoping to see some pride in wearing the blue shirt - something that was completely lacking during the WC.

I'm looking forward to this. Shame Wilshere isn't fit but good to see the other kids getting a chance.

I'd say alot of Premier League lads in the France squad. Kaboul is even in there.

England have confirmed that Carroll is starting. Joe Hart, meanwhile, drops out with injury

Im going go for a draw in this game. 1-1 I reckon.

    Really?

    France team

Lloris; Sagna, Rami, Mexes, Abidal; Groucuff, M'Vila, Nasri; Valbuena, Benzema, Malouda.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

A very attack minded team and a lot of responsibility on the inexperienced M'Vila as the only defensive midfielder.

If the Ireland game looks crap (which it is, and will probably continue in that fashion) I might watch this. Will be a good game.

Say England will win. 3-1/4-1. France are dirt.

France well on top and goal well merited. Benzema is class (although Foster maybe should have done better)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

Lovely goal, Foster shouldn't be beaten on his near post. France playing well, wouldn't imagine they'd do too well if England had a full team. Will keep watching this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,166 ✭✭✭Beefy78

As an Englishman this is making horrid viewing. Need to get Walcott into the game.

You can't really get him in the game when the plan is knock it up to Carrol

Actually it seems to be pass it to Ferdinand to Barry to Lescott to Carrol

In fairness, they have the likes of Gerrard, Barry, Ferdinand, Milner,Jagielka and Walcott, 6 players who could possibly feature in a [capello] first 11 [not that Gareth Barry warrants being near any first 11]

It's been a while since I've seen France playing this well

Benzema, Malouda, Gourcuff and Nasri look a class above.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

France are taking England to school here. Football school.

How Domenech left Nasri out of the World Cup is still a mystery to me.

    Domenech is crazy...no mystery :p

It's crazy to see just how technically better the French players are. Gareth Barry being made to look like a League 1 lumper.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,382 ✭✭✭✭greendom

France seem to have lost their intensity a little and England are getting more into it.

England are so dire that it's incredibly easy for France. This just entirely sums up England's problem as a footballing nation.

As has been said the man is a mad bastard. Tbh it's probably only done Nasri good in that he got a full preseason and he has been excellent since. Good to see him getting his chance now though.

Carrol has done well so far a litlle too soon for Gibbs and Henderson though

    The boo's ring out,

    Carroll doing ok,

England looking poor, France keeping the ball and using it well,

Nasri and Benzema play well together

    Gerrards passing has been terrible

He's always thought that he's David Beckham. And he's no David Beckham.

2-0. Another goal and Capello won't survive this.

2-0 France. England really are a poor football side.

    no their not.

they're just badly set up and capello's choice of player is appalling.

jay bothroyd is good in the championship but there has to be better strikers than him in england.

in fairness ireland make france look average and ireland are pathetic

I don't think you can compare Domenech's team with Blanc's tbh.

Em yes they are. Their players are tactically lost againest any side of quality. England fans will be calling for Capello's head and his replacement to be a good old English manager. Then after a few more years of failure they'll be calling for a more technical international manager again, whilst all the while it's really the players that just are'nt good enough.
