To say I was surprised is an understatement: I just noticed that this has been posted in the Marketing Forum:

“For all your marketing needs please go to the Internet Marketing forum or visit one of the other forums in the Biz category”

So, effectively The Boards are saying that the only form of marketing worth discussing is digital.

The other ‘traditional’ formats (that generate the majority of the turnover) in the business are relegated to “one of the other” areas of business. So, if you want to pose a marketing question regarding radio advertising - you go to the radio forum?

Are we saying we are back to the grim days when the marketing function was simply a by-product of another department?

I appreciate that this decision was taken by a digitally based business – but surely that decision to can all discussion that not digitally based and asking posters to ‘find a home of their choice’ for their queries/thought on the traditional formats of marketing is a particularly myopic decision on their behalf.

Or was it just a biased decision on behalf of their digital format.

    Your thoughts would be interesting.

Interesting post about how digital may be shouting the loudest but traditional still is delivering the goods.

Digital always has been growing faster - but its still small in comparison to the overall spend.

Obviously this fact is overlooked when you taking the axe to forums.

and it not a gripe at the decision making de facto, it's that the decision is agenda driven i.m.o.- you can have any colour, so long as its digital, type thing.

Thread moved from Entrepreneurial & Business Management to Feedback.

Recently, the majority of posts in the forum have been spam. Most frequent posters have no more than a hand full of posts in it. There are no suitable mods to take care of the forum. There is no one looking after it. Most of what is discussed there would be relevant in the Internet Marketing forum, or in the other Biz category forums. Discussion is not being stifled, but it is felt that there are perfectly acceptable forums for the discussion without a specific forum for Marketing.

You'll note you are not limited to just one forum, but that there is a host of forums available.

This decision was not made on the basis of traditional vs digital media.

This decision was based largely on the fact that the Marketing forum was a relatively low-traffic forum, which attracted a disproportionate rate of spam.

There's a recession on. Everyone knows Marketing is the first to go. :pac:

There'll be a mad men sub forum in TV soon enough. If there isn't one already. So... silver lining.

Oh, Dr. B. <shakes head>, Advertising isn't the same as Marketing!

    I feel suitably ashamed.
