Monorail station, Nandos, and Marks & Spencer, really. The 5 Guys thing is just a clever cover-story.

I get the Nandos, M&S, Five Guys jokes because of the false rumours that they're supposed to be coming to Limerick for years but where did the monorail joke come from? Did some crazy notion city councillor once propose it or something?

It's just part of the elusive bundle of things Limerick will never get.
I remember the McDonalds rumours in the 80's, didn't come until 1992.

Was in Nandos on Thursday evening in Dundrum. Food is grand, prices are okay but a lazy business model. They seat you and bring you food but you order from the counter, get your own drink(free refill) own cutlery etc. You pay first as well. I know that GBK do that so obviously as a big company it works.

Looked at the 5 guys price list and gulped. :(

It's an ongoing limerick forum joke, when someone brings up an unrealistic idea for the city or rehashes a rumor that's been around for a while, someone will suggest we need a monorail.

It would then descend into lyrics from the monorail song from the Simpson's being posted line by line.

    They truly were wonderful times.

ST reckon that there is a demand for a new purpose built shopping centre in the City Centre with M&S interested in a store, mentioned the redevelopment of Arthur's Quay as a possible location.

    I blame the parents.

Indeed, ignorance and rudeness is often passed on to the children by their parents.

If you have a subscription you can view it online, it was in the Commercial Property pages of the Business section.

Funny how that corner hasn't worked since Kranks closed.
Great childhood memories of Kranks, especially the original premises.
