mate of mine has a zumba studio open the last two weeks in town where the old golf shop used to be... :)

Where is this? I've heard about zumba and was thinking of giving it a go.

Near jack Fitzgerald electrical on Henry street.

    http://youcandance.ie/timetable.php

that site will give you all the details ZB, i actually wasnt aware of it myself until i was walking past it the day i posted that and i heard someone calling my name, there he was and invited me in for a look, it's all well spacious and he caters for all levels it seems, and the studio itself is plenty big enough too to properly accomodate a class.

my wife brought my son down and he enjoyed himself so we've decided to make it a regular after school activity for him, and my wife is keen to join up too after seeing how much the young lad enjoyed himself! :)

Leonidas (Chocolates, I hope) seem to be getting ready to open next to Leonards on O'Connell St.

I see a new restaurant open across from Phil Flannerys on Denmark St.

Didn't look the most appealing when I passed it but best of luck to them.

It was open Christmas week and then it closed again for good!
Seemed to be a private function in there.

Was really busy in there the Saturday night before Xmas and then I passed the next week and it was all boarded up again! Thought I had dreamt it lol!

Past the area last week and the restaurant was open again

There's work going on in Tony & Guy on Patrick St.

There's a guy outside doing work on the sign and there were two well dressed guys inside pointing at walls and talking.

Anyone any ideas in what's going in there?

Daly’s Hardware at 50-51 William Street has been given planning permission (1237) to revamp its shop front and façade.

Every little improvement is a vote of confidence for the city centre. :)

That's good. I've always found Daly's staff very helpful.

Nolans aka Dick De Vans(sp) is re-opening under new ownership in 2 weeks. They are doing a lot of work to it and recently the "crowd" have been diluted out and they are hoping for a touristy crowd during the day and a "hip" crowd in the evening.

Best of luck to them is the best I can say. There is a lot of money being put into the place, not just a lick of paint.

Also suitable for the "need a job" thread.

Is this not the Mucky Duck owned by a drug gang?

Must be a serious amount of money and a huge overhaul and very confident owners

    Where is that?

On the corner of Bridge Street and Nicholas Street, at the lights by St. Mary's Cathedral.

Very ambitious. They could target the arts crowd living in Grove Island but that would die down during the summer.. If such a crowd would even consider going there.

If they could turn the whole street in to an artsy/trendy kinda place, it would be a great location.

The Locke does well and it's only 2 minutes away.

The issue as I see it isn't one of location, but rather one of reputation.

Oh. Was that "pulse disco bar" at one stage? It didn't look very inviting.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

It was pulse not only a week or two ago - Was waiting at the traffic lights and could see the disco lights

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,279 ✭✭✭ronanc15

Hope they'll have good security as I would imagine keeping that "crowd" out on an ongoing basis is a job in itself. Nonetheless fair playto them for having the balls to try and make it work!
