As overated as Five Guys. Give me Shake Shack any day of the week.

Cannot agree more, I had both in the past month and shake shack was 10 times better and I was a big nando's fan back in Ireland.

I've just seen an ad on Facebook for:

    Level Up BarKade
    Arcade / Bar / Kitchen
    New Limerick Venue - 01/11/19 - FIFTY+ Arcade Machines

Sounds cool. Hope they have good security people. :)

I wish it the absolute best!
It strikes me as an ideal place for people of my vintage to kickback and socialise.

Be some crack if it turns into a new Buzz tho! :pac:

Either I'm blind, or I'm just not concentrating properly....but any idea of location for BarKade ??
    Thanks.

Not announced yet and won't be until next week at the earliest according to the other thread.

Only a couple of venues it could feasibly be City Centre tho, perhaps 3 maximum and 1 of those would need a license transfer.

Other thread has confirmed ample free parking.
That rules out the city centre locations IMO.
If I had to guess at this point, I reckon Business/retail park location maybe.
Would hope that its bus accessible as if its in a retail park, its really restricting to options as to moving on to a new venue or somewhere to meet and have a few before town.

I really really hope I'm wrong but if it's outside the main city centre I can't see it being a success unfortunately. I will be there opening night regardless of location.

I'd tend to agree, if its in the outskirts similar to a kids play centre it would stimy it IMO.

It restricts being anywhere else before or after, and if its not easily bus accessible it puts even more of a restriction on it.

I do hope I'm wrong, as a bit of sega rally or afterburner, some good wings and a pint or 3 before heading to some live music or a gig would be a fantastic option to have near the city centre.

I would love to have it central, imagine going there at 6/7 o'clock in the evening for a few hours before moving on to a late bar(assuming they won't have a late licence) It's like a dream for folk my age.

Wherever it is, I'll definitely check it out.

I see from their facebook page they have games like PacMan and Sega Rally.
If they are charging any more than 50c for 30 year old games, I'll be back out the door so fast.

If they have a deal where you can pay something like €15 for a drink and unlimited games for an hour, I'd be happy with that.

I fear it will be the former though.

50 cent a game for those, might be even cheaper with some deals. And yes we have some deals sorta like that, along those lines. We should be able to reveal location over the next few days, we're about as central as can be anyway really for this type of venue, we wanted to keep it accessible.

Good luck to you, so! Hope it's a massive success. :)

Fingers crossed it takes off for ye.
If it is beyond walking distance from the city centre I'd really hope its in a bus route :)

I'm really looking forward to playing, I mean paying a visit ;)

Thanks all, there's a bus route a couple of minutes away from the Venue itself. I'm not sure how to answer whether the venue is walking distance or not, I suppose that question is subjective to each individual but it's not too far from the centre!

    Fantastic news :)
And the answer to the walking distance is....
With 4 pints drank and 3 friends in tow, is the next pub further than 1km? :pac:

Scott's Bar is the educated guess of a friend that just texted me.

I did think of there but surely way too big

I deliver to the shop beside Scott's and they say its being converted into student accommodation. I stand corrected thou,

I've heard rumblings that its there too.
Size wise for their target of 80 machines, separation of bar restaurant and 2 floors along with "ample" parking it seems to fit the bill.

Its on the edge of being walkable to other venues but not at all a bad shout for it if that's where they are opening.

The ground floor of Scott's has been significantly reduced with 3 new units being divided out of it along the window. Not sure if there would be enough space there on the ground floor, but it fits the rest of the description. There is also the basement and first floor in the unit, so it's possible.

Best of luck with it. Sounds great.
A place like the Woolshed would be great in Limerick as well. Or the Mardyke in Cork where you can play bowling, pool, snooker, ping pong etc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭coffey87

If it is Scotts, 10 minute walk to Fennessys, another 10 minute walk to Bobby Byrnes or Charlie Malones and then a final 10 minute walk into the centre, can be broken up well. Could also go by the dock road and stop into Dolans on the way or Henry street and into Sextons.

Would love a Woolshed type bar for the sports at least, I don't feel like there's many bars suitable for grub/pints/match situations and the Woolshed ticks all the boxes.

Thanks all for the kind words! A couple of posts have popped up and the moderators have asked to try and consolidate it a bit (and it will be easier to manage for ourselves too) so if you have any specific questions we'll do our best to answer them here: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin//showthread.php?t=2058015288&page=2

Obviously we need more competition between coffee shops. Few more should do it.
