    Firefly, Georges Quay.

Rising from the metaphorical ashes of the River Bistro as reported here.

Just passed there, and there are people doing things with noisy tools. I assume it'll be called the Firefly because just inside the door there's a fully-made sign "Firefly Bistro", with a swirly logo on it.

An update: yesterday I saw someone wheeling a trolleyful of foodstuffs inside so I guess they'll be opening fairly soon.

Going by FB this seems to be the same people as, or at least connected to, The Red Onion.

Has anyone eaten in The Red Onion lately? I ate there soon after it opened and was disappointed with the food...

Shop units in Jetland are being marketed agressively and I hear they have at least 3 major retailers in final negotiations. Also the last remaining unit opposite Jetland in the retail park is also in negotiation. - These things can take 2-3 motns to come to fruitition, but good to keep the eye open.

If I hear any more, I'll post.

An Bord Pleanala has approved plans for Nestor’s bar on O’Connell to change its use to a deli style cafe.

The new cafe will be able to accommodate 58 diners when it opens. (Limerick Leader)

I know the lads that own it and the lads who he got to work there. They have been trying to open it since early october.

I would expect it to be near the top of coffee shops in terms of service and quality if they work like they used to work in their old places.

Insomnia should be opening soon enough.

They've started to work on it inside in Eason's.
It's going into the area as you come up the escalator on the first floor.

On the first floor at the top of the escalator, an area which is currently windowless? I hope they'll be able to open up some windows over Cruise's Street otherwise it will be a bit dismal.

Compared to a lot of cities we don't actually have that many.

Most cities have Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Insomnia etc… on nearly every corner.

Anything past 6pm would be great! Unless you count the late night, 9pm, in Costa on Childers Rd. and the Crescent, there's nothing

Imasa has relocated from O'Connell St. to Sarsfield St. This street has almost full occupancy now, a big turnaround from just a couple of years ago.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

But Limerick has lost out on an up and coming fashion designer as the rent for the property Imasa has moved to was too high. Nenagh will gain from having her now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭pigtown

I'm pretty sure she wasn't paying much rent. It was a pop-up on Catherine St. and also on Sarsfield St. There's nothing wrong with that but if the owner of the building had the option of getting more rent from Imasa they'ed be mad not to. It's a pity she couldn't stay in the city though.

Mizzoni's in Raheen are closing but will re-open again soon with the owners of the Galway branches taking over. Hopefully will see one or two more open in the city!
