Lot of activity in the old Sony Centre shop on O'Connell St, guys with hard hats coming and going.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,849 ✭✭✭Poxyshamrock

I doubt the bubble tea shop is a pop-up.

It'll be interesting to see what goes into the Sony Centre.

As far as I know Butler's is opening in the Crescent SC.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,030 ✭✭✭Vanquished

The crescent recently got planning to turn a former retail unit in the central atrium in to a cafe. So i'm guessing that could be the spot they're going for.

It'll probably be an underwhelming occupant but hopefully i'm wrong!

It seems to be an Ennis contractor doing the fit-out works.

I was thinking the same. But then again that premises operated as a retail outlet for at least 20 years. You would imagine that a change of use planning application would be required for a restaurant/food outlet.

The Burrito place in Ennis specialises in Pizzas, Kebabs and Burgers too! Just what we need!

Serious growth in the kebab industry but seems to be no Irish people doing it.Copper and Spice has closed guess wasn't nice being beside 3 kebab shops and fight hotspot

I would be stunned if this was an Apple store tbh. Stunned.

There isn't even an apple store in Dublin. The only one on the island is in Belfast as far as I know.

It'll probably turn out to be a fruit shop. :)

Forrest Gump comes to mind: ''Lieutenant Dan got me invested in some kind of fruit company. So then I got a call from him, saying we don't have to worry about money no more.''

Have to agree with everyone else here, skeptical about an actual Apple store coming to Limerick, just like Starbucks but I hope to be proven wrong.

I highly doubt an apple store is coming to Limerick giving there's none in the Republic and the only one in Ireland is in Belfast. If they were going to open one it would be in Dublin first.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,149 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Maybe compu b are just moving and the guys working there said something about apple.

I'm dubious any apple store would ever ever open in limerick before any other city.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,194 ✭✭✭squonk

Have read NOTHING in the usual places that document up and coming Apple stores to suggest there are any plans to open one anywhere in the republic any time soon, let alone in Limerick. I'm afraid anyone expecting one on the basis of reading about it here will be sorely disappointed!

given the 10 posts before yours i'm sure no-one is expecting it...

Ya not a hope it's an apple store. If they were opening their first store in Ireland it would most definitely be in Dublin first and they nearly always choose very big and unique buildings for the store also unless it's one in a shopping mall. The Sony store nor limerick fit the bill at all. If it wasn't Dublin then Cork would be the most likely other destination.

I would think compu b moving over is more likely. A lot of people think it is an apple store already and don't realise there is a difference between apple store and apple reseller.

Compu B move seems like the more logical option or it may be this crowd http://i-connect.ie/

Although im not sure there is enough business in the city for 2 Apple resellers.

Either way it will be great to see that unit being put to use after so many years of unuse.

But then it will leave two empty units beside BT - a flagship city centre store.

That one O2 was in was ridiculously small - cant even remember what was there before it
