After packing out the Forum’s main room with Green Velvet and Phil Kieran on the October Bank Holiday, RESISTANCE returns to the Forum on 29th December for a HUGE “Christmas/End Of Year” Bash. The event will be headlined by Ireland’s biggest ever Dance music export, THE JAPANESE POPSTARS. Also on the bill is Waterford favourite and electronica legend Mr JUSTIN ROBERTSON and Resistance resident NIALL POWER. Doors are at 10pm on the night and admission is just €15, pay on the door.
The Japanese Popstars are riding a wave of great live gigs, major festival bookings, and media praise off the back of their amazing live shows and DJ sets, and their critically acclaimed debut album 'We Just Are'. The 3 lads from Derry absolutely rocked it everywhere this summer, including Creamfields, Oxegen, Benicassim and the Radio 1 Weekender in Ibiza., Their latest production “Let Go” (featuring vocals by Green Velvet) has become one of the fastest ever selling downloads on the electronic music charts. The Japanese Popstars aren't “indie rave” or any other sub-sub-sub genre, they are big room, cool as f**k electronic music built for clubs, festivals and stadiums. They end a brilliant 2010 with 2 key dates in Dublin (supporting Underworld at the RDS, and New Years Eve @ Tripod), and their first trip down to the Deise for a headlining DJ set on 29th December.
Justin Robertson is a true electronic music original. His career dates all the way back to the Madchester days when he was spinning at clubs like Spice and Most Excellent, often frequented by two lads called Tom and Ed who would later become The Chemical Brothers. As a DJ Justin wears several hats, besides the naff one on his head !. Regulars at legendary London nights Bugged Out and Together will be familiar with his mixture of ravey acid techno and electronic house. Last year Justin was approached by Harmless records to compile and mix their “Art of Acid” compilation, which was reviewed to universal acclaim for it’s fantastic mix of house music that had inspired him as a clubber on the Hacienda dancefloor back in 1988. He also curated a second disc which featured re-edits from the likes of Boys Noize and Dusty Kid. Justin continues to play a mix of techno and electronic house at legendary clubs such as The Loft (Barcelona), Pacha (Buenos Aires), Bugged Out (Manchester), Shine (Belfast) and Chibuku (Liverpool).
