Hey guys so, after my recent "dispute" with HWVS they've refunded me some money back. Now, in order to finish my rig I need a new graphics card.

    The specs are as follows:

    RAM: 4GB-Kit Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 CL9
    Mobo: Asus M4A89TD PRO
cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Box, Sockel AM3
hdd: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB, SATA II
cpu cooler: Scythe Mugen 2 CPU-Kühler
    case:Thermaltake V9 VJ40001W2Z ohne Netzteil
psu: XFX 650 Watt XXX Edition Single Rail Power Supply Modular

What graphics card would you recommend ? The budget is around 250-300 euro including shipping :)

An ATI 5850 or 5870 won't disappoint tho the cheaper 6800 series have gotten pretty decent reviews as well.

What games do you play? And on what size/resolution monitor? You could spend 300 on a new gfx card or 150 depending on the answers to those questions.

The current monitor I have is a wide 19" (noname).. For the games I'm playing most of everything that's new. Mafia 2, Civilization V, f1 2010 etc. I've narrowed it down to a 5850 again or 5870.

A new HD 6850 would go down a treat I'd say.

What about a 5870? Or 6870 ? Is there much difference between them ?

AFAIK it's something like 6850 >5850 > 6870 > 5870. I think that's loosely where the cards are on average. Baring in mind that the 68** series are successors to the 57** series, not the 58** series.

So in my case it's better to buy a cheaper 6870 seeing as it's not that far from 5870 in terms of performance.

In your case a 5870 would be overkill. You couls get a 6850 and OC later on. Would save a lot more cash. GTX460 wouldn't be a bad option either.

I've seen that nVidia reduced the prices on the gtx460's but which one to go for ?

So decided to go with a 6870. Anyone ordered off Pixmania before ? How are they for delivery times ? shipping cost ?
