H1b Visa and Passport Expiring

    I'm 2 years into my first H1b visa and my irish passport is expiring on the 30 January 2011.

    I plan on going home for Christmas on the 16th December and returning to the US on the 3rd on January.

    What i hear is that US Customs will not let me back into the US because my passport is expiring in less than 6 months...is this correct?

    If this is true i doubt i'll be able to get a new passport tru the consulate in time for Dec 16th, so i'll have to do it at home. Will i get it by January 3rd if i expedite it?

    On the standard visa waiver program you can enter the US up until your passport expires. Not sure about any extra entry restrictions regarding the H1B visa.
