I've been listening on the radio about snugs.

Which pubs in Waterford have one? To be honest I can't think of any, but there must be a few.

Haughtons out near carrolls cross, one of my favourite pubs full stop. And it has a proper snug, with a hatch and door for locking as well.

Is it a real* one? I know there is a room on the right hand side as you come in from the Dunmore Rd.

*To be honest I don't really know what a real snug is.

Where is the snug in the uluru? As far as I can recall, a snug is a closed off area where you could fit possibly 4/5 people and its nice and private.

I cant think of anywhere either but there are loads of pubs with little nooks and crannys where you can hide away from the normal pub goers.

I thought so too. I heard of 30 people being in the Uluru snug, so that's why I didn't think it was a real snug.

A grand piano, a snooker table, and squash courts. I'd be fairly surprised if Downses doesn't have a snug hidden away somewhere too :)

My own definition of a snug is an area that's enclosed/private/restricted from view from most of the pub and which has access to an area of the bar for service.

I can't think of any modern bars which have this.

From my definition it's a 'relatively' small, more private closed off area. I guess the question is how small here really as the Uluru has a closed off section.
Doesn't Downses have one behind the bar

Again the same issue I think, the one behind the bar in Downes is not that small and in fact I don't think it's completely separated from the rest of the bar as there's no door. (open to correction on this)
