As the title says when I run Sopcast my internet stop working. I read somewhere about the number of connections open being an issue but im running Windows 7 and when I tried to up the number of connections using a program I got it said its already set to no limit.

    Any ideas???

What internet connection do you have? I have a 8 Mb connection with eircom and sufting slows down considerally while using sopcast

Same as above. I have 2meg (plenty for me). Sopcast works great, most streams on sopcast are between 400 and 1000 bitrate. Most of the time while running sopcast, surfing other sites slows down alot. If the connection to internet is not tip top or being throttled in some way, surfing other sites is nearly impossible. But sopcast remains perfect.

I have 30 meg with UPC so it shouldnt be an issue. Its not that it becomes slow, I cant get the pages to load it comes upas if there is no connection being found yet the stream is fine. Shutdown Sopcast and I can surf again fine.

EDIT: Its definitely some sort of firewall issue, turned off my Windows firewall on the laptop completely and im surfing away on boards and watching the game again.

Yes, thats exactly how mine is most days but today it seems to be better, i have sopcast open now for the arsenal spurs game while i type. It might be worth your while calling a technician and getting them to try surfing while using sopcast. I did that when i had an issue but it turned out there was an update issue with ip addresses affecting random parts of europe. You shouldnt have an issue with 30'meg' at all to be honest. Have you tried a speedtest today?

Edit. Ah ok. Well at least you found a partial solution. To be perfectly honest, i dont normally surf while using sopcast. Dont have the 'pipe'. But today is a rare occassion its working ok in tandem.

Edit 2. Might be worth a look in here. http://www.myp2pforum.eu/forums/14-Sopcast

Obviously not the problem in this case but some routers (mostly older models) have difficulty handling large numbers of simultaneous connections.

Thought I had found a solution but after a few minutes it seemed to just be the same. Only replying now cos the game was a belter and wanted to watch the end of it :D

Had a look on the sopcast forum you linked to and one guy mentioned netlimiter so I might try that to limit how much bandwidth sopcast can use.
