Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any advice on taking photos in a club / gig? I'm using a Canon Eos 20D with the 18 - 55mm lens and was messing about with the settings but am a complete novice so couldnt get it right.

What mode should I be in? What settings should I adjust? Anytime I took a photo of the stage the flash would light up some guys head in front of me of something and look terrible

depends on how dark the room is - are you using available light and fill in flash.

you will have to play around with settings until you get to a setting that you like.

I would suggest...start with ISO 400 , Shutter speed 1/30sec and f2.8.....or just put it in shutter priority (TV) .... if the images are still too dark... increase the ISO, if they are too bright increase the shutter speed.

of course - you might also adjust the power of flash (I assume external flash and not the build in flash is what you are using) .... start with ETTL/TTL .... or put the flash on -1 or -2 (depending on distance to subject)

Invest in a 50mm 1.8 on my 400D I get good gig shots using stage lighting at 1/100 or 1/80 and f1.8-f2.8 ISO 800 using it.

in that case - increase the ISO to 500 or 640 and use f4

its all about trial and error - find what settings suit that particular club (based on ambient light/flash and camera functions)

My 18-200 Nikon lens only goes down to f/3.5
I've tried ISO up to about 1000 but still have trouble getting sharp shots. :(
