Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Folks,
Buying a bike this weekend from Northern Ireland and getting the dealer to stick a restriction kit on it as part of the deal (Learners Permit only).
Just wondering how this will work when I get it re-registered in the republic.
Does restriction certificates have the chassis number on it as well as the registration plate?
    Any info appreciated.
    GG.

Yes, it has the reg and frame/engine number on it.

It'll also have a lovely sticker on the tank to let everyone know it's restricted, but it's not very sticky.

Incase it hasn't occured to you, that you can't drive in Northern Ireland with a Republic of Ireland Learner License. So you would have no insurance up there either, sorry but you better to know now than rather than after seeing the inside of a PSNI station.

Never thought of that... Need to chase up on that one.
I actually made a point if asking Quinn about cover in Northern Ireland and the ejit said I'd be covered. Worst case, I'll chuck it in the back of a van.

Nothing to chase up, an Irish learners permit isn't valid outside the ROI and the PSNI like catching people out on this.

Never trust a tele sales person, they usually are reading from a script and don't know what they are saying. Technically Quinn are correct as all insurance is valid across the EU, but the caveat is that you need a valid licence.

See if the dealer will drop it to the boarder for you.
