According to the Independant James Collins of Villa has gone to Shrewsbury on loan
    Seems very strange to me

    Nah,

It is a youth team player.

IIRC, the above mentioned transfer was completed a number of weeks ago.

He definitely will at Blackpool, especially if the Adam deal goes through. And he's a better player than Whelan, Gibson or Andrews.

Its all over twitter that West Ham were offered Carroll for 1million in 2009 but now Liverpool assistant manager Steve Clarke didnt rate him at the time

To those who think Andy Carroll's little stint makes him proven already, Amr Zaki had the same number of goals in less games this time 2 years ago!

Well lets hope Suarez is as successful as Cole and Carroll as Zaki :pac::cool:

Ridiculous stuff, I honestly can't believe Liverpool are going to waste 35M on this guy...The stuff they could do with that sort of money is insane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

some day for liverpool fans.....nothing is confirmed yet, but some major hours ahead for the future of the club. only one looking defo is suarez, getting the number 7 shirt.

35 million for andy carroll is pure madness. panic buy no doubt. however, if they get in anelka, suarez and carroll, they will have a much stronger strikeforce than what they have right now...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

So then, two transfer records could well be set today - in January!

Depends if Liverpool wait for Torres deal to go through before agreeing Carroll deal.

That was just what I was thinking.

In 1999 West Ham United were handed £7.5 Million from the sale of John Hartson. Days later, they managed to squeeze Paolo Di Canio, Marc Vivan Foe, and Scott Minto out of the same money, with £1 Million left over for their first 6 months wages.

Anelka, Suarez and Carroll would be a decent coup, and provide Liverpool with a range of options. It is also likely that the Torres deal will foot the entire bill for the three.

You dont rate him at all?
What do you think he is worth given he is 22 and has the english player tax?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,235 ✭✭✭iregk

To put some figures on it. Andy Carroll is worth 35m after scoring a total of 32 goals in his entire career thus far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,276 ✭✭✭Memnoch

Newcastle would be stupid to not sell him for that kind of money. I doubt they would get such a good offer in the summer, unless he manages to reproduce this kind of form consistently. I suppose it would be difficult for them to replace him at this late stage and that would affect their position in the table quite dramatically.

I think he's looking like a very good CF - he's relatively fast, agressive, can shoot and head the ball, as well as hold it up, but he's had half a season in the EPL. As Tom Brady mentioned, Zaki scoring stats were similar, and he played in a similar way to Carroll.

He is young though, but I'd put £15 mill of that £35 mill down as a big risk as it's based purely on potential over 3 - 4 months play that he may or may not fulfill. £20 mill, fair enough, anything more is just a mad gamble.

It's possible Liverpool just spent £58m on Amir Zaki and Afonso Alves equivalents!

Definitely. He's had a good start this year but is still relatively unproven. Still it's their money.
