Decided to have a shot at working 100 countries using 100w and a 5/8th wave vertical in 2010, missed a good bit of the sporadic E season but have managed 91 DXCC countries so far, during the last month the band has opened up a lot, I have heard some VK's and my 1st VK beacon last week, looking at the cluster it seems several EI's are now active on 10m

Well done! with 5/8 vertical this is good result!
I hope you will work 100 dxcc before end of the year!
i`m so far active on 40m cause at night band is still open
when 10m is only open during day light.
Working now mostly in CW as this is something new for me
and don`t need much power for it as well.
    Good Luck on 10m!
Next year will be better on this band. Propagation is going up!
    :D

    Report the device to ComReg.

i didnt get near radio at all today, i would contact comreg but ive been there before the neighbours reported me to comreg and it was 18months of rows with neighbours and trying to get comreg to come out before it was settled in my favour, it started up again a few weeks ago when my neighbour had some renovation work done oddly enough:rolleyes: so a massive row was had and we no longer talk and i dont want the hassle of getting onto comreg im hopping a few nights of -11 will sort it out:D

Just thinking, if you knew the exact frequency the receiver that device operated on it could easily be jammed, 100mw would do it nicely, he'd hate being woken up at all hours by misleading readings, a few sleepless nights would sort him :D

i always assumed they operated on 433mhz i do have a very strong digital signal on 433.875 which i thought was it but it doesnt explain the 10m interference and it centers on 10 ssb from roughly 28.420-28.560

Congratulations Bogman. next year will be better for 10m I hope! I wish you some contacts with VK and ZL this winter! And be prepared for BIG ONE just in January : DX0DX. Consider Spiderbeam for 10m antenne-skipper01.jpg
Small, light and very effective antenna. You don`t need big rotator and Beam is a Beam! Like 3 ele Yagi will do a good job on 10m for you! I had 2 el Yagi (HB9CV) on 11m yeras ago. 252dxcc confirmed by QSL. But that was on 11m 9 years ago .... If you will be interested to get Spiderbeam for 10m send me PM. I will give you option to get this antenna for just around 100EUR shipped to Ireland. 73!

A bit late for the Spiderbeam mordka, I emailed Nevada and put an order in for the 4 ele last night, I know the spiderbeam well but was not aware there was a monoband version available, how many elements does it have and what it its gain (dbd)

    Hi Charles.
All the infos, basic infos about Spiderbeam for 10m (11m) you will find here:

    http://members.a1.net/iraustria/skypper/technical-data.htm

Skypper is a name of Spiderbeam for 11m just to let you know.
But 4 ele Yagi will be much better!

Best way to find the source is to turn off the mains in your house at the fuse board and if you have an alarm disconnect the battery in it.

If you still have the noise thats when it gets tricky.

everything electrical these days causes noise to some degree my fridge raises the noise floor on 20 about 4 S points. the Kitchen was designed around it and it cost €1K so I will just have to put up with it.

i always assumed they operated on 433mhz i do have a very strong digital signal on 433.875 which i thought was it but it doesnt explain the 10m interference and it centers on 10 ssb from roughly 28.420-28.560

Thats some going Charlie I dont think I worked 10DXCC on 10 in the 6 years I am licenced. I spend way too much time listening to white noise on 6m.

just shows what can be worked on a modest setup

Worked 78 ssb DXCC and 40cw DXCC on 10m during the year Deglan, 4ele Sirio ordered, may have it before Christmas, dont know what's happening with the sunspot numbers, its below 87 today, a very very slow climb, band was dead when I arrived home today
Keep up the work with the CW, its worth it in the end, love it but not the best at it

this makes for interesting reading aparently the cause of our severe winters and poor hf conditions but if this is the case conditions could be like this for the next 50 years:eek:

Wonderful view Bogman! Well done and enjoy your new antenna. Great tower you have there. If is not a secret where did you get your tower from?

Finally got round to much needed antenna work over the Christmas Holidays :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 27 mordka

Looks good Les45. What is that? 3 ele for 40m ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 381 ✭✭les45

Bulls eye ! It is a 3 El M2 for 40 , it was perhaps one of the coldest days we picked to put it up but thankfully we had no wind . The Rotator is Prositel 61 which should hopefully keep the beam on the staright and narrow for a couple of years at least .:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 27 mordka

Well done les45! It is powerful antenna. 40m great band. With 3 el .... eh my dreamlist. Wish you many contacts on my favorite 7Mhz.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭bogman

Excellent job Les, the Prositel will turn it no problem, what did the crane hire cost or did one of your buddies look after you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 381 ✭✭les45

Not sure on the cost as yet , I use the company for our hire work during the year and in fairness to the lads they always give me a very fair deal , we had the machine out for the day with the beam up and running by lunch time and then some much need work completed on the 80 MT Array :)
