This is the approach coughlan08 used for most of his horse bets recently, being "system bet" you should really follow blind :)

    Ffos Las
    12.50 First Fandango win
    13.20 Tea for three win
    15.00 Kilcrea Kim win
    16.05 Grovemere lose

    Kempton
    12.30 Bobs Worth win
    13.00 Dee Ee Williams win
    14.05 Andytown lose

    Ludlow
    12.40 Natureofthebeast lose
    14.15 Mud Monkey lose FELL

Brilliant Mike thanks, I do not have the time to go through these each day, delighted to be able follow your selections

I haven't got the slightest bit of knowledge on horses but i done the above for 2 weeks. Just writing them down on paper after a lot of cross referencing. The idea was to post them up in my log but i got bored of doing that after about 2 days. Anyways if i had of bet on them all for the 2 weeks i would have been up probably a grand if i nailed a good staking pattern. I just don't have the balls to bet on horses though. Don't know what it is. Maybe because it just seemed so easy doing this "system" and i don't trust things that are too easy. Anyways good luck. Seems profitable once you stick at it.

Terrible short odds though, less than evens for most winners.

a winner at evs is better then a 1000/1 loser, and 6 of them bud well thats pretty **** hot

Nice idea, any reason you don't use the ATR tips?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,978 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Yes but:

    Ffos Las
    12.50 First Fandango win 2/7 .29
    13.20 Tea for three win 4/5 .80
    15.00 Kilcrea Kim win 1/1 1
    16.05 Grovemere lose

    Kempton
    12.30 Bobs Worth win 4/9 .44
    13.00 Dee Ee Williams win 1/2 .5
    14.05 Andytown lose

    Ludlow
    12.40 Natureofthebeast lose
    14.15 Mud Monkey lose FELL
    14.50 Phidippides win 2/7 .29

Returns .32 LSP from 10 bets after losses. 3.2%

These horses should win. You need at least 6 of them to win so that you don't lose money. They are animals runninng miles and jumping fences. They can be brought down, fall, run out, refuse to race, unseat rider, go wrong, saddle slip etc. etc. And many of these shorties are novices. Factor all that into a 2/7 shot! I don't know what SP the losers were.

returns -.71 LSP. Thats 'your' money from yesterday gone. Albeit these are SP and not best earlies.

The "shape" of the fields over the last few days has been terrible, the shorties are horribly short and far from cast iron. The risk/reward ratio means I'm not backing these horses.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,250 ✭✭✭Juwwi

Its a bit early to be knocking this system Nulty.

It looks an interesting thread Mike and worth trying for a week or two if you have the time imo.
I will be keeping a eye on it with interest.

The beauty of it for me is the tips are up the night before not like hugh taylor or pricewise systems.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,384 ✭✭✭Technique

A lot of people use this system to lay horses, the thinking being that so many people get on them that the prices offered can be stupidly low. So based on the last 2 days, the smart money was in laying them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,899 ✭✭✭coughlan08

doesnt matter what any1 says about this system as it works if you use it in the right way..i.e doubles. ive made thousands so nuff said about the matter...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭The Walsho

Also note that coughlan would get good prices early on, and used different stakes depending on his confidence, along with doubling up some of them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,978 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Updated, a few decent prices and a couple of shorties and Osana which is one of 3 likely winners in a 5 runner race! :p

    Ive tried this before mike.
Half the days you will make a small profit
around a quarter roughly break even
then the rest are major losses.
Its worth trying of course but thts how i see it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,978 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Newbury
    12:25 Binocular
    14:30 Big Buck's

    and thats your lot

Would it make sense then to do the opposite and lay every horse?

    15:20 Golden Silver
    15.50 Blazing Tempo.

    13.15 Majuro
    13.45 Olney Lass
    14.45 Takajan

Only going small stakes to check it out.
