Did 1:42:25 in race series but wasn't a goal race and 3rd in 3 weeks so happy enough.

10k course seemed a bit rough?

God that's great if it's third race in as many weeks. Your legs are crying for a break I'd say.
10km wasn't great for me. I hadn't any juice to fight the wind and mentally surrendered.

Well done! The wind was shocking in the phoenix park this morning and we had some shelter.

    Kildare 1/2 Marathon

    13.1 miles in 1:48:41

    Avg Pace 8:18
    Avg HR 146

Went into this race with no plan really. Decided to line up with the 1:45 pacers and take it from there. First couple of miles were dodgy with lots of crowding and on quite a tight gravel path and then across part of the curragh. We then turned straight into the wind towards the Curragh camp where it was really exposed. Felt fine here and knew the major hill of the race was coming up so took it handy up this with the intention of picking up the pace on the downhill which I did.

Pacers were a bit ahead of me at this stage but as the next few miles ticked off they seemed to be the same distance up or maybe gradually increasing. Got a bit of a second wind around the 6 or 7 mile mark I think it was that lasted for a couple of miles but could feel I was slowing down coming through Kildare town.

Mile 10 was 8:46 and I was slowly running out of steam. Kept an eye on the average pace for the next couple of miles and was surprised it did not seem to be dropping. When I got to the 12 mile marker I was waiting for a beep and then I noticed my watch had stopped after 10 miles.

All I could do was laugh as I knew there was no way I was maintaining the same pace. Finished in just under 1:49 by clock time. Can't complain really as was third race in 3 weeks and the endurance is not there at the moment.

Nice recovery run with a couple of laps around Gormanston College. Legs felt fine after the race yesterday and had to fight to run it as a proper recovery run.

Club session last night and 6x800m was the order of the day. Wasn't so sure the legs would like it after Sunday but gave it a go anyway and enjoyed it in the end. Legs didn't give out too much either. As usual the first one was a bit quick but was happy to have something in the tank to do the last one a bit quicker.

First one was too quick and last one involved going over on my ankle into a pothole and a stop for a few seconds to see if it was ok. Just ambled home after that. 6.02 miles total for the night.

Rest of the weeks free time was taken up with golf and preperation for a competition.

Looking forward to getting back out this evening.

    Monday

    6.92 @ 8:38 pace. Avg HR 143.

Ran the couple of miles or so to Gormanston college where a couple of the club were doing an easy run. Joined them for a couple of loops and headed home. Lovely evening.

    Tuesday

    5 @ 9:46 pace. Avg HR 140.

Someone decided they wanted to get up at 5:30 this morning so headed out early to get todays run in as I can't this evening. Lovely morning for it but I don't think the body knew what was going on.

Nice evening for a run. Spotted there was an aquathon going on on the beach so stopped for a few minutes to watch them come out of the water. Legs felt a bit tired and didn't really want to know regardless of the pace I ran.

You could last year, they had a table set up for those who had booked online, best to give them a shout though, just in case.
