Not sure where I am in relation to the plan to be honest. I started 22 weeks out but have had a couple of handy weeks so far. Seem to be struggling to get the 5 sessions in a week and mostly getting 4 and averaging around the 40 mile mark.

Need to try and step it up over the next few weeks. Next week was meant to be another relativly small mileage (31) with the 10 mile on but will see how this week goes and if I need to get more miles in.

Aim is for mid-high 40's this week.

I'm pretty much getting the miles in but struggling with the pace targets of each session. You're getting some good quality stuff in, which is probably what I need to turn my focus to.

Best of luck with the 20miler tomorrow...Enjoy :)

Have not had too many full on weeks recently to be honest. Trying to focus on 3 midweek runs (recovery, some sort of speed, medium long run) at the moment along with LSR and recovery run at the weekend.

Not sure about enjoying tomorrow but will give it a go.

Your training seems to be going well?

    20 miles LSR.

First 20 mile LSR ever. Met with the gang in the park on Saturday morning with people doing various distances. Broke it into a 6 mile, loop, 8 mile loop and then a final 6 mile loop. Legs although maybe a little heavy from training during the week felt fine throughout and myself, Average_runner & jcsmum who were doing the 20 miles even picked up the pace for the last couple of miles and felt fine.

Only blot on the run was stopping twice after 11.5 miles and 18.5 miles as I felt my stomach was going to empty. It didn't on either occasion and felt fine when I started again. Thanks to the guys for waiting for me on both occasions.

    Monday

Was hoping to do a recovery run yesterday evening. Was lashing rain so I decided to start preparing room for baby's arrival in my gear while waiting for a break in the weather.

Break never came and time was ticking on. Decided to head to the gym and do the run on the treadmill. Was hot and got bored stupid after about 20 minutes so stopped. God I really do hate treadmills.

Didn't even record the time spent or distance. At least it got the legs moving.

Back to normality this evening hopefully.

    8 miles general aerobic.

Still feeling the effects of the 20 miles from Saturday a bit during this run. Legs just a bit tired but not sore. Didn't pay much heed to pace and just ran well within myself and finished strong.

Some problem with lap function on lap 7. Phone was beeping and I had to stop eventually to trigger manual lap. This lap was over a mile. Strange that when I stopped the watch there was 8.02 miles on the watch but only uploaded as 7.95. Manually updated it anyway.

Last few days have been mental with finishing up work for a week and getting house ready for new arrival so running has taken a back seat.

To make matters worse wife went for check up (meant to be going to Cork on Sunday for a few nights). BP on the high side so was taken into hospital to be monitored.

Still hoping to make the 10 mile in the morning once everything is ok but looks like few nights away is gone now :(

Definitly not feeling the love for running in the morning now.

P hope the OH is ok. No long now to go. I heard you ran a great race today. Well done. I however did not enjoy it one bit but still beat my time of last year which to be honest would not be hard to do.

Thanks Nules. Race went well. Sorry to hear yours didn't. I hated this race last year as well. We all have them.

Had nice race report written and lost it so in summary.

Target was 80 mins. Finished in 78:22.

First mile was 8:15 due to congestion and 6th mile 8:04 again hard to pass on path.

Haven't run since. Wife in hosp and looks like baby will make an appearance in next couple of days.

    Congrats on the new arrival!
I think a good few of us had a difficult week last week albeit most people probably didn't have such a major event but you got the LSR in yesterday so that was the main thing running-wise, so well done!

Tough enough workout. Legs felt heavy warming up. Went to an area I knew was pretty flat and could do intervals ok. Found it hard to pace myself properly. These were meant to be at 5K race pace which checking now is roughly 7:15 pace according to McMillan.

Warm down was fine though the last 1/2 mile legs were hurting. Rest day tomorrow and back to work :(

I started from the roundabout on the outer ring road and ran the distance required then took my rest and ran back in the opposite direction

Had previously done some in Gormanston College but thought they might be back to school so gave it a miss.

Ah yeah, had my eye on that spot alright. Is there a track on Gormanston college?
